Ok, after finally viewing it - WOW! I am beyond impressed. This looks 1000 times more magical and larger in scope than the book. Even when I was younger I didn't think the book was some masterwork. I liked the art above anything else, looking back at it now you wonder why it was such a big hit. I personally liked monsters a lot growing up so that's probably why it turned me on. And acoustic Arcade Fire in the trailer?! My nerdy senses are tingling!
Sean Penn to play Larry in the Farrelly Bros. Three Stooges movie. Benicio Del Toro and Jim Carrey are also rumored to round out the threesome. Can we say "bomb of nuclear proportions"? You'll be laughing for all the wrong reasons
Coen Bros. set to remake True Grit which originally starred John Wayne and won him an Oscar. Will we see Clooney fill in for Wayne? The Coen's are re-teaming with No Country for Old Men co-screenwriter Scott Rudin so maybe we should see Tommy Lee Jones play the Wayne part? Read on and fantasize away!
This is one of the coolest things I've read in awhile. A screenwriter known on his blog as "Mystery Man on Film" has posted for download a 125-page transcript of a brain-storming session which George Lucas, Steven Spielberg and Lawrence Kasdan had in 1978 regarding a little film called Raiders of the Lost Ark. It's all here folks. The creation of Indy as we know him. The ideas for all the set pieces, the action, the pacing, the characters, the story. It's a rare find and a treat to read these men thinking out loud in arguably what was their most creative time as artists. For screenwriters this is a treasure trove of education, and for fans it's just heaven. I hate snakes!
I think it just made my list of number one movies to see this year. As with Spikes two and only films, I think it will be heavy on melancholy with a sign of hope toward the end.
Word is this screened in Burbank about a year ago. Reportedly kids cried coming out of the theatre, the studio heard about it and flipped, almost firing Jonze and re-filming most of the film Superman 2 style. I don't know what Jonze did, but he kept his job and let's hope to Christ that he kept his original vision of the film as well.

WTWTA looks great, but I'm still a little hesitant. I read the script about a year ago and was surprised at just how melancholy the whole thing is. I heard rumors that test screenings were a disaster because the movie was making all the kids cry.
Still, an intriguing project, and visually looks absolutely stunning.
Love all the other links you've posted here. Seems to be a good day for getting random links!
