With all our "serious" talk of superheroes and drama and sci-fi films let's talk about the lighter side of film this week with some trailers that make you weep for the good reasons.
First up is Sam Mendes' new film Away We Go and yes it involves the general malaise and feeling of displacement the modern American family feels but this time it's in a humorous way! And hey, there's Jim from The Office with a great big bushy beard!
Next is Bruno, where Sacha Baron Cohen gives his gay diva Bruno from Da Ali G Show the Borat treatment with a full length film. This looks even more over the top and crazy than Borat if you can believe it. I still can't believe more people didn't recognize him during this shoot. See the Red Band insanity for yourself.
By the way the unofficial alternative title is Bruno: Delicious Journeys Through America for the Purpose of Making Heterosexual Males Visibly Uncomfortable in the Presence of a Gay Foreigner in a Mesh T-Shirt. Yeeaaah.
Then we have Mike Judge's new effort Extract. Jason Bateman! Mila Kunis! Judge back to an office setting! And Affleck with a great big bushy beard! How can you go wrong?! Doesn't hurt that the trailer is honestly funny. What man can't relate to the sweatpants thing?
Lastly we have The Brothers Bloom starring Adrien Brody, Mark Ruffalo and the gorgeous Rachel Weisz. Looks like Wes Anderson and the Tarantino/Rodriguez team had sex. In other words - quirky fun with explosions!
Seems like a damn decent line up to me. These of course in addition to Apatow's Funny People , Rogen's Observe and Report and the recently released Adventureland and it looks like we've got a great year for comedy coming our way!
