It happened! The magnum opus known as Battlestar Galactica came to a thrilling (and definitive) conclusion. In it's wake, questions about. What did it all mean? Was Starbuck a ghost? Are we all really part Cylons? What happened to Adama's shuttlecraft? Did Caprica have visions of Gaius the whole time? And why the frak were those two looking through a magazine and wandering Earth streets?

How did this finale stack up to others, as well as your expectations? Obviously, spoilers are encouraged. So say we all!

Well, for my money, it was a pretty damned satisfying conclusion -- and I'm not going to even pretend to get it all. Best finale ever? That's a pretty loaded claim. Me, I think the Six Feet Under finale was pretty awesome too. In theory, all a finale has to nail is not betraying the concept and copping out -- and yes, I do think a few BSG corners were cut, there were enough satisfying moments of closure to make up for it. And, like The Sopranos (another great finale, there I said it!), there is enough to chew on for quite some time.

Definitely not the best finale EVER (for my money, The Wire takes that honor) but it was still pretty gods damn awesome. Admittedly I was going through some serious BSG withdrawals all day Saturday and I couldn't help but re-watch the whole 3-hr finale again on Sunday.

MAJOR SPOILERS AHEAD, seriously just stop reading and see the show if you haven't already:

My biggest complaint, and it's probably my only complaint really... was Starbuck REALLY "The Harbinger of Death"? This was a phrase that was uttered so many times in the series that for a long time I was convinced that the show would end with everyone dying and ultimately being reborn. But in the end I feel like Adama is the one who lead "everyone to their death" since he is the one who instigated the final suicide mission. And if you really think about it, there weren't any more casualties in the final battle than there were in some of the earlier space fights. Why so much talk about the end of humanity when our heroes were ultimately granted a clean slate to live out the rest of their lives in peace?

As for the very last part, I think the Gaius and Caprica Six head characters were more or less the voice of God/The Devil. They definitely both appeared as messengers throughout the series, and though it was a little odd to see them 150,000 years later, I liked that they were able to voice the concerns over whether or not this generation of humanity will restart the cycle of violence.

Great show that I will definitely miss. Thankfully I now have Dollhouse and T4 to rip off the various concepts for the next several years :-D

Once again I feel like I'm missing out when I hear you BSG fans spewing your love juices about this show. I'm going to have to secretly rent this show, have it sent to a PO Box three towns over, and watch it in my moms basement with the door locked, the sound low and the lights off. BSG = porn for nerds.
